With the start of a new season, it’s time to swap out our summer lipstick shades to more nude and berry tones. And while some of us have our “signature color,” I prefer to have a few on hand to rotate based on my mood or the event. I shared my favorite nude lipsticks last year, but many of you asked about reds, mauves and berry shades. This year, I included a few more options that I am currently loving for fall. Because after all, a new lipstick is the way to a girl’s heart, right?

Have a great weekend! xx Ashley

BITE LIQUIFIED LIPSTICK (PUREE)

I picked up this color in NYC after my makeup artist used it on me during NYFW. I don’t typically wear reds, but this brick color really complimented my olive skin tone. It’s a lot less conventional than a typical red and equally flattering on all skin tones (or at least that’s what she told me). I really like the formula for this lipstick. It’s a great mix of matte and cream. It’s not drying and gives a nice satin finish.

MARC JACOBS LIQUID LIP (SHUSH BLUSH)

I love the formula of this full coverage liquid lipstick. It’s matte, but doesn’t crack or show that line on your lips. Shush Blush is the perfect berry color.

CHARLOTTE TILBURY HOLLYWOOD LIPS LIQUID LIPSTICK (PIN UP PINK) *FAVORITE*

You guys know how much I love Charlotte Tilbury, and their new liquid lipstick is hands down my favorite. I purchased this in three different colors and keep checking to see if they are releasing any more, it’s that good.

Lip

The formula is velvety smooth and very hydrating. It leaves a beautiful matte finish too! Highly recommend this! I have it in Charlotte Darling and Platinum Blonde, too.

BUXOM BIG & SEXY BOLD LIPSTICK (POISON NECTAR)

This is the perfect muted pink/nude. Personally, I love this color year-round, but it’s a great fall shade as well. Poison Nectar is a great everyday shade.

NARS AUDACIOUS LIPSTICK (VIBEKE)

This limited edition color is a great option for your fall collection. It’s a beautiful nude/coral and leaves a soft, velvet finish.

HUDA BEAUTY LIQUID MATTE LIPSTICK (CRUSH)

I love Huda Beauty and her new liquid lipsticks are amazing. Not only do they smell like cupcakes, but you hardly feel like you have anything on your lips. I also have this in the color Gossip Girl!

These lipliners are great and perfect for everyday. Although they are nude, I wear them with any color. If you like to over line your lips, these will be your best friend.

What’s an unsung makeup hero? For me, it’s an oftentimes underrated makeup morsel, a permanent collection product that scoots under the radar screen of many makeup lovers but regularly rocks my world. The long-running Unsung Heroes series features some of my favorites.

There ain’t no party like a high tea party ’cause a high tea party don’t stop!

This occurs to me not only because I’m currently craving tea and those tiny sandwiches from The Rotunda again (OH, MAH GOSH! So good…), but also because of the recently launched frosty beige MAC Mariah Carey Lipstick.

Even though I can totally picture Mimi rocking a frosty beige lipstick, it’s the kind of color that isn’t always easy to wear, which got me wondering about other MAC lipsticks with a kinda-sorta similar vibe.

After combing my mental MAC files, I remembered High Tea. It’s a $17 pearly beige pink in the MAC Lustre Lipstick line, and it has just enough frostiness to hit those high notes without being so frosty that it becomes difficult to wear.

There was a time when I was regularly wearing tubes of High Tea down to the nub (you know I love me some nude lips). It’s one of those “it goes with everything” nude lipsticks, and I think it looks great by itself for a quickie nude lip.

Maybe because of the subtle frosty, shiny finish, it also makes my lips look a little fuller (I think). Yup, being a MAC Lustre, High Tea has a glossy, holiday-hoppin’ finish, but it isn’t sticky like a gloss, which means that I can wear it without worrying about my hair whipping around when it’s windy and getting stuck to my pout.

I find that I do have to reapply the lightweight, moderately moisturizing formula after snacks, drinks and meals, but that’s not a big deal for me. I don’t mind. I kinda think it’s fun (and MAC’s signature vanilla flavor and scent get me every time).

Also, when you’re in the mood to layer, try it with MAC Lip Pencil in Subculture or the MAC Pro Longwear Lip Pencils in Oh Honey or Cultured. I love how they look with High Tea. Or, try it with something like a nude pinkish gloss on top, like MAC Plushglass in Big Baby. 🙂
