Scribus Macos

MacOS: Scribus 1.5.6 is certified to be installed and run on current versions of macOS. If you want to use Scribus on a computer with the latest version of macOS, 1.5.6 is the required version. For those that use the Scripter functionality, our default DMG download of Scribus on macOS uses Python 2.x installed with the operating system. There are many ways to install Scribus on your Mac but the simplest methods are to download either the Scribus Disk Image (DMG) or the Scribus Package Installer (PKG). The instructions below will show you how to install Scribus using either of these methods. Other installation methods are available.

Scribus is available for many operatings systems and comes in basically two flavors, stable and development. For almost all production work, we recommend that you use the stable version. In our development version lots of things may be regularly changing as we fix issues and introduce new features.

Currently the stable branch is the 1.4.x series. Download links for 1.4.x installers are available, click the button below. Use this branch if you want to work with a thoroughly tested software without any unpleasant surprises.

Scribus Source. The source for Scribus is available from our Subversion repository at svn://scribus.net. “trunk” is the primary development branch. Note: there are other replicas of this repository (eg on github) however this is the official, supported code repository.

The development branch is currently 1.5.x. It’s mainly being released for people who want to help us testing and improving Scribus, so the next stable series (1.6.x) will work well. However, as of version 1.5.1, we consider the development branch reasonably stable, so it can be used for serious work by users who accept that not all
