Rutgers utilizes the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client to provide secure remote access VPN functionality for end users running Microsoft Windows. Users can access VPN via the SSL VPN portal or by installing the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client. Documentation and software downloads for each are located on this page. Please note that administrative privileges are required to install AnyConnect
Download AnyConnect. Double click on the Cisco AnyConnect software icon. (If using Windows 8/8.1, from the Start screen, tap or click the Desktop tile, then tap or click the Libraries icon in the Navigation pane. Tap or click Downloads, then double-click on the Cisco AnyConnect software icon.) Click on Next on the Welcome screen. Complete Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client for Windows, Mac OS X 'Intel' and Linux (x86 & x64) platforms for Cisco IOS Routers & ASA Firewall Appliances. Release Date: 7th August 2020 Version: 4.9.0195. Files included: - anyconnect-win-4.9.01095-core-vpn-predeploy-k9.msi - Standalone deployment package for Windows platforms.

- To download the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client to your PC, you must log in with a Cisco profile and have a valid service contract. Next, you can download and install the AnyConnect Pre-deployment Package for Windows.
- Cisco's AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is a Virtual Private Network (VPN) client that works on a wide variety of operating systems and hardware configurations. For more information about VPNs, see: Virtual Private Network at MIT. The new Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client and service will work under Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux.
If for any reason the Java installer fails, the AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client can be downloaded and installed manually. A link to download it will be provided if that occurs.
AnyConnect Client
Installing the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client eliminates the need to download the application each time a user logs into the SSL VPN Portal. If you have not previously installed the Cisco AnyConnect client, you can authenticate to any of the VPN’s through a web-browser which will attempt to auto-install AnyConnect. If this fails (which due to modern browser security it almost always does) you will then be presented the option to manually download and install the client.
